dear political bloggers or commentators,
Also, for those who like to praise “small town values” and use phrases like “real Americans” when referring to those of us who live in such towns, please get a fucking grip on reality. I’m almost 50 years old, and have spent nearly my entire life in very small Midwestern towns, and I’ve seen just as much corruption, hypocrisy, greed, and deceit in these fine people as in any of the city-dwellers I know. Of course, I’ve also seen kindness, compassion, generosity, and honesty. Human beings being what they are, you’ll find the same mixture of values everywhere, and while the externals may vary from place to place (my city friends placing more value on public transit, for example, while those of us in the boonies might be more concerned with the state of the public highways) the essentials of human nature remain the same no matter where you live. And if you live in NYC you are just as much a “real American” as anyone living in an Iowa farming community with a population of less than 200 people, and your concerns and political choices are just as valid.
